Blue Lake Methodist Camp offers numerous activities both day and night for groups looking for a location to hold a camp.

“We currently have three different groups here at this time,” executive director Steve Lewandowski said. “So we have things going on all over camp right now.”

The first camp was held in 1951 and the first building was built on the property in 1952.

Pinewood was the original camp and could sleep 160 guests when it was completed.

The camp now has Pinewood, Dogwood and Oakwood camps and can sleep 525 people all together.

“It really has a changed a lot over the years,” Lewandowski said. “Some of camps are bunk style houses and one is set up like a hotel where each room has two beds along with a their own bathroom.”

The camp also has numerous activities available on the property including swimming, inflatables, canoeing, stand-up paddle boards, field games, messy games, archery, low ropes challenge course, swimming pool, nature hikes, arts and crafts, nine square in the air, tennis, basketball, camp fires, volleyball, four square, gaga ball and talent shows.

“There are a lot of different things for campers to enjoy,” Lewandowski said. “Our camp is for everyone and there are all different age groups that come down every year. They groups here now aren’t using the gym, but we have a gym with a stage and two full size basketball courts. It gets a used a lot. We also have what is a called a gaga pit that gets used a lot. It’s hard to explain the game, but everyone enjoys the gaga pit.”

Lewandowski said that most people see the camp as just a summer camp, but he said it’s so much more than that.

“It’s not just a summer camp,” Lewandowski said. “We are here the entire year and we have some type of group here camping nearly every day of the year. We want more people around here to realize that they can bring a group down here to camp. We have groups of all different sizes that come down.”

Blue Lake Methodist Camp hosts several summer camps for elementary students (grades 3-5), junior high students (6-8) and senior high students (9-12).
