According to data released by the Choctawhatchee, Pea and Yellow Rivers Watershed Management Authority, rainfall totals in August are looking better than last year’s totals, but compared to last year altogether, the totals are significantly less.

3.33 inches of rain were recorded on Yellow River on Hwy., 55 in August. That is .33 more than last year’s solid three inches. Year to date, 24.46 inches was recorded at that location through August, as compared to 36.44 inches in the same period last year.

6.18 inches of rain were recorded on Yellow River on Hwy., 84 in August, which is an increase from last year’s 5.21 inches.

Year to date, the Choc-Pea Authority has recorded 32.72 inches of rain there, compared to 51.62 inches last year.

More rainfall in the forecast this week, with a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 7 p.m.

After 7 p.m., it drops to a 20 percent chance.

More rain will be on the way Saturday with a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms and then a 30 percent Saturday evening.

Chances of showers and thunderstorms will continue through Monday.
