The Pleasant Home Lady Eagles routed McKenzie for their first area win Tuesday night, 70-19.

“To get the area win was the most important thing,” Pleasant Home coach Kelley Garner said. “We played hard and that was the most important thing (Tuesday night). I go all 14 girls out on the court and played five eighth graders and three ninth graders.”

The Lady Eagles were leading at halftime, 35-11 and only allowed eight points compared to their 45.

Pleasant Home moves to (9-2, 1-0 in Class 1A, Area 3) on the season.

“We missed several layups and it’s inexcusable at this point in the season,” Garner said. “We also missed quite a few baskets right up under the goal. (Wednesday) we’ll be concentrating on eliminating all mistakes right now.”

Leading scorers for Pleasant Home were Brittany Ward with 22 points, Erin Byrd with nine and Erica Bullard with eight.

The Lady Eagles will continue area play in Florala on Friday night right after B-team action.
