The Andalusia Rotary Club Foundation presented more than $42,000 to local, regional and national charities on Tuesday.

The funds represent proceeds of the World Champion Domino Tournament, held each July.

David Darby, who chairs the foundation board, made the presentations to:

• The Andalusia Police Department, for the National Child Safety initiative and a second contribution toward the purchase of body armour.
• Andalusia Booster Club, which helps fund all sports at AHS.
• Andalusia Public Building Authority, which is raising funds for renovations of the AHS auditorium and stadium.
• Covington Historical Society for the Three Notch Museum.
• Blue Lake Coaches Camp, and event which provides a three-day spiritual leadership retreat for coaches and their families.
• Jo’s Community Dinners, which provides meals to any in need on Thanksgiving and Christmas.
• Andalusia Elementary School special ed, for sound-proof room dividers.
• Andalusia Ballet, for scholarships.
• Pilots for Christ, which provides air transportation for critically ill patients who need to travel great distances for treatment.
• Pleasant Home School basketball, for repairs to the gym floor.
• Meredith’s Miracles, which provides assistance for the non-medical needs of families whose children must travel for specialty treatment.
• St. Mary’s Rice and Beans program, which provides monthly food staples to those in need.
• South Central Alabama Mental Health, to help provide services for those who have no insurance.
• Andalusia Elementary School library, for new books.
• Covington County Child Advocacy Center, which provides services for children who have been abused.
• Scottish Rite, which provides services for dyslexic children.
• The Dolly Parton Imagination Library, which promotes literacy by providing a new book each month to every child born in the county from birth until kindergarten.
• Covington County Recreation Board.
• Laundry Love, a ministry of First Presbyterian, First Methodist, and St. Mary’s churches, which provides needy families with laundry assistance.
• First Presbyterian Church’s Love Thy Neighbor program, which provides hot meals to those in need twice each month.
• Crossover Ministry, which provides in-house addiction recovery services.
• The Covington County Full Tummy Project, which provides weekend care packages of food for children who might otherwise go hungry.
• Community Christmas. which provides gifts for needy children each Christmas.
• Megan Kelley Foundation, which provides financial support for juvenile and young adult patients.
• Youth Advocacy Program, which operates a local domestic violence program.
• Lower Alabama Arts Coalition.
• Camp ASCCA, Alabama’s Special Camp for Children and Adults, which provides therapeutic recreation for children and adults with special needs.
• Rotary International, which funds a number of initiatives in developing nations, and whose efforts have almost eradicated polio.

Earlier in the year, the foundation also contributed $3,500 to the Andalusia High School chorus for new uniforms.
