Red Level volleyball coach Gail Lee said she expects nothing but the best from her Lady Tigers this season.

Lee enters her second season as the volleyball coach in three years. She wasn’t at the helm of last year’s team.

RLS has two returning starters in Kendra Hall and Julie Hendrix on the Lady Tigers’ squad this year. Additionally, Amanda Cobb is the only senior on the team.

There are three seventh graders, two eighth graders and five ninth graders, along with the one senior on the young team.

“I expect their best,” Lee said. “As I told them, we’re not going to go anywhere with the thought that we’re going to get beat.

“We’re going in with the attitude that we’re going to win the game,” she said.

RLS is in Class 1A, Area 3 with Brantley and Georgiana.

This is Brantley’s first year of volleyball competition. Georgiana doesn’t have a team at the school.

With only two teams in their area, the Lady Tigers automatically qualify for the Super Regional.

To get ready for the season and the upcoming competition, Lee said the off season workout schedule has been pretty strict.

“We’ve worked in the weight room and had good workouts,” she said. “We were in there three times per week all summer. They’ve gotten stronger.”

The Lady Tigers will travel to Florala on Thursday, where they will play in their first match of the season.

The varsity squads will play two games, starting at 4:30 p.m.
