The Covington County Sheriff’s Department is actively searching for a 57-year-old diabetic.

CCSO Chief Investigator Wesley Snodgrass said the department received a report of a missing person on Sunday.

Snodgrass said they are looking for Daniel Eugene Wiggins, a white male whose last known location was at the Troy location of Verizon.

“Wiggins resides in Covington County, but works in surrounding counties,” Snodgrass said. “CCSO investigators have worked with family and coworkers to attempt to locate Wiggins. Wiggins is a type II diabetic and requires insulin.”

Snodgrass said that late Sunday afternoon, Wiggins’ phone was pinged in South Crenshaw County, but the phone has not been active since that time. Sources close to Wiggins’ family said he last worked Friday night.

“Wiggins’ location is unknown at this time and the Covington County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for assistance in locating Daniel Wiggins who may be at medical risk,” Snodgrass said. “At present time, there is no evidence of foul play, but family and friends are very concerned about Wiggins’ safety.”

Anyone with any information on Wiggins’ location is asked to contact the CCSO at 334-428-2650 or after-hours through dispatch at 334-427-4911 or notify your nearest law enforcement agency.
