Eagles blaze path to area title game

The Pleasant Home Eagles picked up a pair of wins from its boys’ and girls’ basketball teams on Tuesday night in the opening round of the Class 1A, Area 2 tournament in Pleasant Home.

GIRLS

PLEASANT HOME 68, HOUSTON COUNTY 26

Pleasant Home started with a blistering pace as they throttled Houston County 68-26.

River Baldwin led the way for the No. 6-ranked Lady Eagles with 30 points.

“At least we know that we are going to be playing in sub-regionals,” Lady Eagles head coach Jerry Davis said.

The Lady Eagles will take on Kinston Thursday for the area championship.

BOYS

PLEASANT HOME 68, KINSTON 35

The No. 4-ranked Eagles’ varsity boys secured a spot in the area championship by hammering Kinston 68-35.

“I didn’t feel like we played our best game tonight,” Eagles’ head coach Troy Turman said. “Right now, we know we are going to get everyone’s best game. Tonight, we kind of weathered the storm and picked up the pace in the second half.”

Robert Scott was leading score for the Eagles with 18.

The Eagles will play Houston County Thursday for the area championship.
