Red Level topples Hillcrest

The Red Level Tigers held off a late comeback attempt by the Hillcrest Jaguars to earn a 10-8 victory on Thursday in Evergreen.

Caleb Jackson reached after being hit by a pitch in the top of the third inning and moved up to second base on single from Kenneth Mancill.

The Tigers then grabbed the lead when an error off the bat of Kade Green allowed Jackson to cross the plate for the first run of the game.

After line drive produced the second out of the inning, Jack Dorman then punched a single throw the infield that brought in Green to score and error allowed Mancill to score.

Ramsey Morrow followed with a hard ground ball single to short that scored Dorman for a 4-0 Red Level lead.

In the bottom of the third inning, the Jaguars used four hits to trim to the gap to 4-3.

The Tigers loaded the bases up in the top of the fifth inning when Green drew a walk, Dorman was hit by a pitch and Morrow reached on bunt single.

Jachen Hartz then ripped a single to left to score Green for a 5-3 Red Level lead.

With the bases still juiced, Johnathan Kyser drew a walk to score Dorman from third.

John Sanders then hammered a single to right to score Morrow and Hartz and put the Tigers on top 8-3.

Keegan Russell opened up the top of the sixth inning with a single and then Dorman tripled with line drive to left to score Russell with ease.

Morrow followed with a fielder’s choice to first that scored Dorman to give Red Level a 10-4 lead.

The Jaguars added runs in the sixth and seventh innings to cut the Tigers’ lead down to 10-8, but Green struck out the final batter to give Red Level the victory.
