The Lurleen B. Wallace Lady Saints softball team swept Enterprise State Community College Sunday afternoon on sophomore day.

The Lady Saints scored four runs in the sixth inning and one in the seventh to break a tie to win the first game 5-4.

In the second game, the Lady Saints shot out to an 8-1 lead after two innings of play to go ahead and win force the mercy rule over ESCC, winning 13-4 in six innings.

“The fifth, sixth, and seventh innings in the first game, and the whole second game I thought we swung it the way we were capable of swinging it,” Lady Saints head coach Tommy McDaniel said. “Defensively, it was our best two games of defense all year. We were really good on the infield.”

McDaniel added that he was “glad” to see the three sophomores finish at home on a high note.

“I was glad to send our three sophomores, Kassee Carter, Jaleah Ramsey and Jas Simmons, out on a positive,” he said. “They have worked hard here for two years and that was our goal (Sunday) to not only win the games, but send them out on a positive.”
