Off to good starts

MONTGOMERY — Straughn and Pleasant Home got off to a good start at the Class 3A and Class 1A State Softball Tournament in Montgomery at Lagoon Park this morning.

The Lady Tigers forced the 10-run mercy rule on Leeds, winning 10-0 in six innings with the help of a grand slam home run by Tori Bracewell in the bottom of the second inning.

Pleasant Home scored four runs in the bottom of the fifth after trailing 1-0 to South Lamar to get the first round win.

The Lady Eagles will play Lynn today at 1:30 on Field No. 1, and Straughn will play Dadeville at 1:30 on Field No. 5.
