Eight LBW Saints baseball players have signed scholarships to continue their careers at four-year schools this season.

These eight, along with the first-year players, have helped the Saints compile at 35-18 record and have had a strong showing at the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Southeast Regional Tournament in Martinsville, Va.

The following is a list of the eight players along with the schools they have signed to:

Former Pleasant Home player Josh Dozier, Troy University; Daniel Shear, Troy University; Cody Hall, Auburn Montgomery; Tyler Dent, Auburn Montgomery; Chezz McCann, Auburn Montgomery; Ryan Waltman, University of Mobile; Blake Hanson, University of Mobile; and Jeremy Williams, University of Mobile.

At the regional tournament, the Saints ended their season with a 7-5 loss in the championship game to Lenoir Community College.

LBWCC finished ranked third in the country, and head coach Steve Helms earned his 700th victory during the season.

Throughout the 2010 season, the Saints have had to overcome adversity off the diamond.

T.J. Fleming succumbed to cancer Tuesday that was diagnosed in January.

Fleming’s jersey will be retired, and a plaque will be installed in the Saints’ dugout.

Tyler Rasberry is still recovering from the car accident he was involved in this past December.

Rasberry is currently in a nursing facility in Florala, and the family has notified the Saints community that he has made many recent improvements during his therapy sessions.

As of late Friday, word is that he has awoken from his coma. No other details were available.

Rasberry played for the Saints in 2007 and 2008.
