Speaker of the House Seth Hammett and state Sen. Jimmy Holley Monday announced a $10,000 state Community Services Grant for Andalusia High School. The grant will allow the school to make substantial repairs to the school’s football stadium marquee which is a source of community pride.

Andalusia Superintendent Ted Watson faced the unanticipated expense of repairing the sign a few weeks before the school year began.

“Water damage had eroded the foundation of the marquee and made the area around it unsafe,” Watson said. “The marquee is the focal point of the football stadium and is important to our students and community.”

“We have a responsibility to insure the safety of students and visitors to the Andalusia High School campus,” Hammett said.
