After spending two seasons as the head baseball coach at Pleasant Home, Bradley Stephens will be going in a different, but similar direction this year as the new softball coach for the Lady Eagles.

Stephens is taking over for former coach Jimmy Reeves, who is the head softball coach at Opp and the assistant principal.

He inherits a team that has made 10 state tournament appearances in Montgomery.

“I’m looking forward to it,” Stephens said about the upcoming season. “The majority of these girls with the exception of the juniors and seniors of this team, I’ve coached in basketball before.

“They kind of know how I operate, and know what to expect to a certain degree,” he said.

Stephens said he knows he has some big shoes to fill with Reeves leaving the program.

“That’s a mild understatement for big shoes to fill,” he said. “It’s quite the understatement. Coach Reeves developed a monster of a program when it comes to softball. He’s done a great job with these girls.”
