Red Level falls to Elba

The Red Level Tigers fell 48-14 to top-ranked Elba Friday night in their last region match up of the regular season.

Elba struck early, taking advantage of a fumble recovery, scoring on a 29-yard run with 10:33 left in the first quarter. The PAT was good, putting Elba up 7-0.

Elba scored on their next possession on a 14-yard run at the 4:43 mark of the first quarter, and the point after was good, making the score 14-0.

With 4:24 left in the second quarter, Elba struck again on an interception for a 97-yard touchdown run. After a successful PAT, Elba went up 21-0.

Elba took at 27-0 lead at the 2:25 mark of the second quarter on a 43-yard touchdown pass.

Fresh out of the locker room, Red Level got on the board following a blocked punt, when Raheem Bullock took the ball in from three yards out at the 8:32 mark of the third quarter.

The two-point conversion was no good, leaving the score 27-6.

Elba countered with a 36-yard touchdown pass with 3:34 left in the third quarter and a successful extra point, taking a 34-6 lead.

Elba took advantage of a Red Level fumble in their own end zone, and recovered for a touchdown with 1:54 left in the third, and the PAT was good, putting Elba up 41-6.

With 5:16 left in the game, Elba scored again on a 44-yard run.

The final score of the game came on a 13-yard run by Red Level’s O.J. McGee and a successful two-point conversion.

Bullock was Red Level’s leading rusher with 25 carries for 89 yards and a score.

The loss puts Red Level at 5-4 overall, and 4-3 in Class 2A, Region. Red Level will enter the playoffs as the No. 3 seed.

Red Level will travel to play Southern Choctaw in the first round of the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s playoffs.

Red Level will travel to play county foe Florala next Friday night.
