Straughn girls, boys split with Greenville

Straughn beat Greenville 43-42 in girls varsity action on Friday night.
SHS was tied 31-31 with Greenville after the third period.
Straughn (9-2) then went on to score six points at the start of the fourth period to take a 43-38 lead. After two free-throw opportunities with 14 seconds left in the game for Greenville, but Straughn ran the clock out for the win.
Jacie Williamson led Straughn with 17 points.
In varsity boys action, Straughn fell 55-47.
Straughn trailed 14-10 after the first period, but outscored Greenville in the second period 12-6 to take a 22-20 lead at half time.
Greenville then stepped up its offensive attack in the third period outscoring Straughn 14-11.
Straughn’s Austin Pickrel led the Tigers with 14 points. Avery Driver chipped in 13 points.
In B-team action, Straughn lost 54-20.
Straughn will travel to play Red Level next Tues., Dec. 21.
