Straughn’s varsity girls beat Ashford 48-30 in area action on Friday night.

Anjelica Bonham led the Lady Tigers with 15 points, and Jacie Williamson added 14 points.

The Lady Tigers improve to 13-4 overall, and 1-1 in Class 4A, Area 3.

In varsity boys action, Straughn fell 50-43 to the Yellow Jackets.

The Tigers led 10-4 after the first period, and 22-12 at half time, but Ashford went on a late surge in the second half to lead 29-24 after the third period, mostly making crucial free-throws.

Straughn’s Austin Pickrel scored 15 points, and Avery Driver added 13 points.

Straughn will travel to play Headland next Tuesday night.
