The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory from 6 p.m. this evening until noon Monday that includes Covington County.

The NWS is predicting a mixture of sleet and freezing rain beginning in Southeast Mississippi and moving east throughout the day.

Ice accumulations of sleet are expected to be under one half inch. There is, however, a concern that some icing could form on trees, power lines, bridges and overpasses.

The ice will begin to melt Monday as temperatures will warm into the upper 30s and lower 40s by Monday afternoon.

The advisory also includes Washington, Clarker, Monroe, Conecuh, Butler, Crenshaw, Perry and Greene counties.
