Saints win 1, lose 2 over weekend

The LBWCC Saints’ baseball program fell to 1-2 on the season after two home-opening losses over the weekend.

The Saints lost 7-1 to Beville-Fayette Saturday night, and 15-5 to Central Alabama Community College on Sunday in an afternoon game.

The Saints’ only win came against Marion Military early Sunday morning, where they won 10-0.

Beville-Fayette 7, LBWCC 1

Saints freshmen Gavin Free and Andrew Crane were 1-for-1 behind the plate for LBW against the Bears Saturday night.

The Bears scored their seven runs in the first and third inning on many Saints errors.

The Saints’ only run was scored in the bottom of the first inning.

Losing pitcher Jeffery Enloe allowed four hits, six runs, two unearned runs, walked two and had two strikeouts in 2.1 innings.

Matthew Barner pitched three innings, and had six strikeouts.

LBWCC 10, Marion Military 0

Free had three RBIs, was 3-for-4 and scored two runs in the Saints 10-run win over the Tigers Sunday morning.

Brant Still was 2-for-4 with three RBIs; David Carter was 2-for-3 with one run, one RBI and one home run; Josh Thompson was 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI; and Alex Banks was 1-for-3 with two runs.

Daniel Arant earned the win on the mound for the Saints. Arant pitched 3.1 innings and had three strikeouts.

CACC 15, LBWCC 5

Still was 1-for-3 with two RBIs for LBWCC in the loss.

The third game of the weekend started off great for the Saints. The Saints led 5-0 after the first two innings, but the Trojans managed to crawl back into the game and tie the score after the fifth inning.

CACC then ran away with the game, scoring ten runs in the final two innings.

P.J. Leto was 1-for-3 for the Saints.

William Taylor earned the loss for LBWCC, allowing three runs in 0.2 innings.
