From the Mad Hatter, Huck Finn and Spiderman to Junie B. Jones, Fancy Nancy and a group of pirates – the characters in children’s books came alive as Straughn Elementary School held its annual character parade in honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday Friday.

Parents and students alike lined the hallways that morning to watch as participants made their way from one end of the school to the other.
