Saints claim weekend sweep

The Saints got needed hits Saturday with a doubleheader sweep over Enterprise State Community College.

LBWCC scored 13 runs on 22 hits to beat the Boll Weevils 13-4 in the first game, and then won 7-3 in the second game.

The Saints will play host to Central Alabama today in a doubleheader. The first pitch is slated for 1 p.m.

Saints 13, Boll Weevils 4

LBWCC’s Aaron Haag led the Saints with four hits and five RBIs in the win.

P.J. Leto was 2-for-5 and had one double and two RBIs; David Carter was 4-for-5 with three runs; and Zach Sasser was 3-for-4 and had one run and one RBI.

Chris Barrentine struck out eight batters, allowed four runs on 11 hits to earn the win for the Saints.

Saints 7, Boll Weevils 3

The bats stayed hot for the Saints at the start of the second game.

LBWCC scored three runs in the first inning in the win.

Chad Wallace kept the Boll Weevils at bay through five and two-thirds innings. Wallace struck out six batters, and gave up three runs on nine hits.

Daniel Arant earned the save, and had two strikeouts.

Haag was 1-for-3 with four RBIs and one home run; and Leto was 2-for-4.
