Straughn sweeps Carroll-Ozark

Third-ranked Straughn beat Carroll-Ozark 9-1, 14-4 in a doubleheader Monday night in Ozark.

The Tigers improved to 19-4 on the season, and will play host to Headland Thursday night in an area contest.

Straughn 9, Carroll-Ozark 1

Straughn’s Luke Fussell was 1-for-3 with one single; Cody Hughes was 3-for-4 with three singles; Drew Jones was 2-for-3 with two RBIs; Andrew Burleson was 1-for-1; Zack Stinson was 3-for-4 with three singles; Turvin was 1-for-4 with one single and three RBIs.

Winning pitcher Nick Allen allowed one hit, one run and two walks in five innings.

Stinson earned the save, and allowed two hits, one walk and struck out one.

Straughn 14, Carroll-Ozark 4

Straughn’s Josh Dewrell was 1-for-3 with a single; Fussell was 3-for-4 with two singles and one RBI; Jones was 3-for-3 with two singles and one double; Burleson was 1-for-1 with one single and two RBIs; Hughes was 1-for-3 with one single; Stinson was 2-for-3 with three RBIs; Zack Lunsford was 2-for-4 with two singles and two RBIs; Chase Short was 2-for-4 with one single, one double and one RBI.

Hughes pitched four innings, allowed five hits, five walks and struck out four.

Lunsford came in and pitched one inning, allowed one hit and struck out one.

Dewrell pitched one inning and struck out one.
