SHS girls fall to No. 7, boys still at top

Straughn’s Lady Tigers fell to No. 7 in the latest Alabama Sports Writers Association poll that was released today.

The Lady Tigers fell to Ariton 5-1 last Mon., April 11, but bounced back to beat Class 1A powerhouse Kinston the next night 6-2.

Straughn’s girls came back from spring break, and improved to 28-8 after a 2-0 victory over Opp Tuesday night.

The Lady Tigers will travel to play Headland today in Class 4A, Area 3 action. The first pitch is slated for 4 p.m.

Straughn’s boys remained at the top of its classification when they improved to 25-7 after a doubleheader split against Class 2A’s second-ranked Wicksburg last Thurs., April 14.

The Tigers will play host to St. James this Friday in the first round of the playoffs.

The two games on Friday are at 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
