Straughn girls beat Opp 2-0

Straughn’s Paige Caraway struck out nine and allowed three hits in seven innings to help lead the Lady Tigers to a 2-0 win over Opp Tuesday night.

The Lady Tigers scored both runs in the third inning, and their defense behind Caraway held on for the win.

Straughn’s Payton Mitchell led off the third inning with a triple, and scored on a sac fly from Megan Johns.

Laken Harris then reached on an error, and later scored on an RBI single from Caraway.

Opp’s Sydney Jones allowed two runs on four hits and struck out one in six innings.

Straughn’s Kaitlynn Wiggins was 1-for-3 with a single; Caraway was 2-for-3 with two singles and one RBI; Mitchell was 1-for-2 with a triple and one run; and Johns had one RBI.

Opp’s Savannah Gerber was 1-for-3 with a single; Beth Anne Spurlin was 1-for-3 with a single; and Jones was 1-for-3 with a single.

Straughn will travel to face Headland in area action tonight at 5, and Opp will travel to play Geneva, also in area action, today at 4:30 p.m.
