Saints beat Wallace State-Selma

The Saints are now two games out of the last Southern Division playoffs spot after posting an 8-3 conference victory over Wallace State-Selma Monday at Crum Foshee Field.

The Saints improve to 25-19 overall, and 16-11 in the ACCC’s South Conference after the five-run win over WSS.

Monday’s home victory came after a week where LBWCC was 2-1 in conference play. The Saints beat Enterprise State Community College 8-3, and Central Alabama Community College 6-4 in the first two games, but fell to Faulkner State 4-3 on Saturday in the last game of the week.

The Saints will travel to play Chattahoochee Valley Community College today at 1 p.m.

LBWCC 8, WSS 3

LBWCC’s Daniel Arant struck out eight and allowed three runs on four hits in seven innings to earn the win on the mound.

LBWCC got on board in the first inning when Aaron Haag, of Andalusia, scored on a walk when the bases were loaded.

Wallace State came back to score one run in the top of the third inning to tie the game up, but the Saints answered with two runs of their own on a Haag two-run home run.

Haag was 3-for-4 with three runs and three RBIs for the Saints.

LBWCC added one run on a walk in the fourth inning.

Then, Chad Dickinson hit a solo home run in the sixth inning to help his team take a 5-3 lead.

The Saints sealed the win with three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to help Keelin Alsobrooks get the save for LBWCC.

Alsobrooks struck out two and allowed no runs on two hits in two innings.

Dickinson was 2-for-5 with two RBIs; and Austin Mason was 2-for-3 with one RBI for the Saints.

Behind Arant’s performance on the mound, the Saints’ defense accounted for no errors in the field, and only left three men on base during the contest.

LBWCC 8, ESCC 3

David Carter was 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBIs, a stolen base and one home run; Mason was 1-for-1 with a run and a stolen base; Dickinson was 2-for-4 with four RBIs, a double and a home run; and Paul Hattenstein was 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Todd Dykes earned the win on the mound for the Saints.

LBWCC 6, CACC 4

Dickinson was 2-for-4 with two RBIs; Jeremy Reeves was 2-for-4 with one run; P.J. Leto was 2-for-5 with one run and a stolen base; and Carter was 1-for-3 with one RBI, a stolenn base and a double.

Jeffery Enloe earned the win on the mound for the Saints.

FSCC 4, LBWCC 3

Josh Thompson, of Opp, was 2-for-5 with one run and a stolen base; Haag was 2-for-5 with on RBI; and Zack Sasser, of Opp, was 1-for-3 with a double.

Chris Barrentine got the loss for the Saints.
