Camp for coaches to offer family time

Family time for coaches is a rare commodity, but local coach Jimmy Reeves hopes to help give coaches and their families a little dose of quality time.
After going to a Fellowship of Christian Athletes family camp in Black Mountain, N.C., Reeves decided that it would be a good idea to have one a little closer to home to minister to coaches around the area.
The Coaches Family Retreat will take place June 9-12 at Blue Lake Camp, and Reeves said there are more than 20 families signed up to go.
“It’s been a tremendous blessing for us,” Reeves said. “I wanted to get something in a smaller scale that these people can enjoy.”
While at the camp, coaches and their families will be able to worship together, play together and have fellowship with each other, Reeves said.
“The mission of our camp is to try to get coaches to take some times and spend it with their wives and children — to get away from the hustle and bustle,” he said.
There are a limited number of registrations available, so register early, Reeves said.
For about six to eight months, Reeves said he’s been working to put this camp together with the help of Blue Lake Camp executive director Phyllis Murray.
“If the coaches would break down and come one time, then they’ll be like me and hooked and want to go back every year,” he said.
