4 LBWCC athletes receive conference honors
Four LBWCC athletes received Alabama Community College Conference honors for the 2010-2011 year.
Sophomore basketball players D’Angelo Fields, Brandon Benton, Courtney English; and sophomore baseball player Aaron Haag were the recipients of the awards.
Fields, a sophomore guard from Jacksonville, Fla., was given second-team All-Region and first team All-League (South) team honors.
He shot 32 percent from the three-point line, 48 percent from the field and averaged 13 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals per game.
Benton, a sophomore forward from Albany, Ga., was given second-team All-League (South) team honors. He shot 30 percent from the three-point line and 45 percent from the field. Benton averaged 10 points, seven rebounds and three steals per game.
English, a sophomore forward for the Lady Saints basketball team from
Atmore, was given second-team All-Region and first-team All-League (South) honors. She shot 50 percent from the field and 35 percent from the three-point line. English averaged 15 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two steals per game.
Haag, a freshman infielder from Andalusia for the Saints baseball team, was given second-team All-Conference and first-team All-League (South) honors.
He averaged .355 behind the plate, scored 37 runs, drove in 55 runs, had 13 doubles, one triple, seven home runs and finished with a .610 slugging percentage this season.
These players are selected from all of the junior colleges in the state.
