The county is one step closer to viewing online digital property maps after commissioners approved a new agreement with the state transportation department Monday.

County administrator Brenda Petty said the agreement is for an $18,000 grant from the federal government and would help complete the digitization portion of the project. Commissioners agreed to fund the 20 percent match for the project.

Petty said $100,000 was appropriated in last year’s budget for the project.

This is expected to complete the second phase of the two-part project. The county’s aerial photography was completed shortly after the first of the year. Now, officials are working to upload the images for viewing.

This is the second grant used to fund the project. Last year, the county was awarded a $35,000 grant from the Department of Revenue to help defray some of the $94,000 project.
