It might not be a “Honky Tonk Bar,” but the Florala amphitheater will work just as nice as a concert setting for songwriter Bryan Kennedy than any other.

Kennedy, a nationally known songwriter and singer, will perform in a concert Friday from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The event will serve as the location’s first public event.

Kennedy has written songs that appear on numerous Garth Brooks records, including three No. 1 radio hits – “Good Ride Co-wboy,” “The Beaches of Che-yenne,” and “Amer-ican Honky Tonk Bar Asso-ciation.” In addition, Bryan opened up for Brooks with his good friend, Dan Roberts, performing in front of millions of people.

On Friday, local attorney and music lover Wesley Laird will open the concert.

There is a $2 admission fee, and concessions are available from the Florala Recreational Board. Proceeds will be donated to local non-profit groups.
