After Red Level led a close game through the majority of the third period, Brantley hit a hot streak and rallied from behind to beat the Tigers 64-59 Thursday night.
In a back-and-forth, down the court game, the Tigers outscored Brantley 13-8 in the first period.
Brantley outscored Red Level 19-17 in the second period, but not enough to take the lead at the half, with the Tigers up 30-27.
Brantley tied the game at 19-all with 3:34 left in the half, but Red Level’s Troy Nolen quickly took the lead away.
The ball went back and forth at the beginning of the third period, with Red Level hanging on to the lead, until Brantley went ahead with 2:45 left in the third.
RLHS went ahead again until Brantley scored again with 30 seconds left putting them ahead 46-44.
Brantley added a 3-pointer and scored two before the period was over, outscoring RLS 24-14 in the third.
Red Level added points 8 points in the fourth, mainly because of foul shots, but it wasn’t enough to recover from a half filled with “mistakes.”
Red Level head basketball coach Allen Catrett said his boys “played hard, but made too many mistakes.”
“When you make that many mistakes, it’s hard to overcome,” he said.
Nolen led in scoring with 18 points; KJ Lawrence had 12 points; and James Feagin added 13.
Red Level will play host to Flomaton tonight.
