Pleasant Home’s football team held its annual fall banquet on Monday night at PHS.

Special awards were given to players that excelled during the season, where the Eagles finished in the second round of the Class 1A state playoffs — a first in the school’s history.

PHS head football coach Ronnie Douglas, and assistant coaches Ron Yates and Cody McCain handed out awards.

Douglas presented the offensive player of the year award to Jon Cole Chesser; the defensive player of the year award to Hunter Weaver; the special teams player of the year award to Kaleb Powell; and the most valuable player award went to Gabe Gunter.

Yates presented the J.J. Seice award to Josh O’Neal; the strong man award to Evan Yates; the offensive lineman award to Austin Chesser; and recognized Matt Brady for his service and dedication to the football team for the past seven years.

McCain presented the defensive lineman award to Jeffrey Slaughter; the rock hard award to Dustin Taylor; and the rookie award to Hunter Odom.

Additionally, the water girls — Mary Schwartz and Courtney Slaughter — were recognized for their efforts this season. Also, the videographer and ball boy, Ethan Brady, were recognized and given thanks.
