Four Pleasant Home varsity boys finished in double figures to help lift the Eagles to a 66-38 win over Geneva County on Friday night for homecoming.
Senior guard Jeffrey Slaughter led with 16 points; senior guard Josh O’Neal had 14 points; junior guard Lance Davis had 13 points; and senior guard Ty Bass chipped in 11.
The Eagles shot out to a 25-6 lead after the first period with the help of a 10-0 run to take a 13-2 lead after a pass from Slaughter to Davis.
PHS led 19-6 on a drive from Bass, and then took a 15-point lead on a pass from Bass to Slaughter.
Senior guard Kaleb Powell then got a steal and made a lay up to give the Eagles a 23-6 lead, and Davis got a jumper as time dwindled in the first period to end another 10-0 run for the Eagles.
“We got out and scored well to start with,” PHS coach Jerry Davis said. “The first quarter was big. We just kind of rode it out.”
The Eagles outscored the Bulldogs 13-8 to lead 38-14 at half time.
Pleasant Home was 6-of-6 from the free-throw line at the end of the third period to lead 52-25, and outscored the Bulldogs 14-13 in the fourth period to improve to 12-6 overall, and 3-1 in Class 1A, Area 2.
Powell had six points for the Eagles.
“The kids played hard,” Davis said. “That’s the first time we had four people in double figures. That’s always good.”
Geneva County’s Karon White led the Bulldogs with 15 points. Seth Stafford chipped in eight points.
The Eagles will visit Florala on Tuesday in area play for their next game.
