Three Pleasant Home Lady Eagles finished in double figures in their 64-19 rout over W.S. Neal on Monday night at PHS.

Raven Woods led with 13 points; Ashley Williamson had 12 points; and Kendra Bryan had 10 points. Mary Schwartz had eight points; and Jade Self and Emily Byrd had six points each.

“The first half was pretty much a foul-fest,” PHS coach Kelley Garner said. “It was a very rough and physical game.”

The game was so rough and physical that PHS guard Abigail Kelley had to be taken to the hospital with possible broken ribs, Garner said.

“We’re just fortunate others didn’t get hurt,” she said. “They were very fast and aggressive, and then again, it was good to play with a team like that.”

PHS led 19-9 after the first period, and 40-17 at half time.

PHS outscored W.S. Neal 16-2 in the third period, and 10-0 in the fourth to improve to 10-4 on the season.

Since Pleasant Home is 5-1 in Class 1A, Area 2, they will have to flip a coin to see who will host the area tournament, which begins on Feb. 6 for the girls.

The coin flip will be between PHS and Geneva County, and will take place at Kinston on Wednesday.

In regular season action, PHS will visit Excel on Friday.

In varsity boys action, Pleasant Home won 69-52.
