Geneva hit a blooper over second base, and ninth-ranked Pleasant Home couldn’t recover in a 1-0 loss to the Lady Panthers on Thursday night at GHS.

The hit for the Lady Panthers came in the bottom of the sixth inning off of a left-handed batter, PHS coach Bradley Stephens said.

“They had a runner at second, and we just couldn’t recover in time,” he said. “Geneva had an excellent pitcher. Emily (Byrd) started for us and did well.

“They just happened to bloop one in,” he said.

Byrd had four strikeouts, and allowed two walks and one hit.

Pleasant Home falls to 4-1 overall this season, and will face Class 4A’s UMS-Wright tonight at 6:15 in the first game of the Andalusia softball tournament.
