PHS girls tally 13 hits, beat Lady ‘Canes

Pleasant Home’s girls leading hitters combined for 13 hits in the Lady Eagles’ 9-2 home win over Flomaton on Tuesday night.

Caitlin Jernigan went 2-for-4 with a double; Emily Byrd went 2-for-3 with two doubles an a walk; Ashley Copeland went 3-for-4 with a double; Brianna Dozier went 2-for-4; Abigail Kelley went 2-for-3; and Raven Woods went 2-for-2 for the ninth-ranked Lady Eagles in the win.

Byrd pitched 6.0 innings and allowed one earned run, two hits and struck out eight for the win on the mound.

Helena Weaver got the save with one hit and one strikeout.

The Lady Eagles improve to 7-3 on the season, and the varsity girls will host Luverne next Tuesday in regular season action.

The junior varsity squad plays in the Ariton tournament on Saturday.
