PCS wins SHS tourney

Providence Christian defeated Red Level 15-2 and Straughn 14-7 to win the Straughn Tournament with a 3-1 record over two days.

In the win over Red Level, Quentin Snellgrove and Nathan Turner were both 3-for-3 with two runs batted in with Turner earning two doubles. Spencer Walker had two hits, David Darty had a solo homer and a RBI on a bases-loaded walk and Davis Riley had a single and RBI.

Against Straughn, Brad Lolley was 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs, Snellgrove was 3-for-4 with two RBIs, Adam Pierce was 2-for-3 with a double and three runs batted in. Trey Thompson was 2-for-4 and Phillip Blackmon had a three-run double.

Blackmon picked up the win in the opener, pitching four of the five innings and allowing just two hits and two runs, while striking out six. Alex Plagenhoef was the winning pitcher in game two, working 4 2/3 innings with four strikeouts.
