The Andalusia City Council Thursday recognized members of the AHS girls basketball team for their second place finish in this year’s state tournament.

Mayor pro tem Terry Powell presented coach Bennie Shellhouse with a proclamation. Team members also were recognized.

In other business, the council:

• transferred a liquor license from Casey Jones to Harold Tracey Grimes, Prestwood Place LLC, for the Andalusia Country Club.

• agreed to pledge matching funds for a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application that would improve water and sewerage on Feagin and Beatrice streets and would affect 198 people.

• was told that ceremonies celebrating the renovation of Johnson Park are planned for 8:30 a.m. on Sat., May 26.
