Arthur Dwight Lucal has been charged with attempted murder and failure to register as a multi-felon in the shooting of a local man.

The Covington County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to a residence on Antioch Road at 5:19 p.m. Fri., June 15, 2012, where Sidney Raley, a 49-year-old white male was suffering from gunshot wounds to his left hand and left leg.

The suspect, Lucal, 49, had fled the scene.

The victim was transported to Andalusia Regional Hospital and was later air lifted to USA Medical Center in Mobile.

The tracking canine team from Walton County Correctional Facility in DeFuniak Springs, Fla., was called in to assist in the search, as were members of the Covington County Sheriff’s Posse.

Lucal was apprehended at the scene of the incident at 11:30 p.m. without incident.

He is being held on a $275,000 bond.
