Straughn splits at Elba

Straughn’s boys picked up its second loss of the season Friday night, falling to Elba 47-42 at EHS.

Hobie Hughes led SHS with 22 points and nine rebounds. JD Driver had nine points. Brice Scott added five assists.

SHS improves to 12-2 overall.

In girls action, ninth-ranked SHS beat EHS 51-35 to pick up its 17th straight win of the season.

Brittany driver led SHS (18-1) with 19 points. Taylor Wood chipped in 10 points.

Straughn will visit Daleville in a Red Level Christmas Tournament re-match in boys action tonight. Tip off for both teams is at 4:30 with the B-team.

JF Shields 52, Red Level 39

JF Shields led 11-3 after the first period, 19-18 at halftime and 30-23 after the third period.

KJ Lawrence led RLS with 21 points. Justin Maddox and Dee Tolbert had eight points each.

RLS improves to 13-9 overall, a 1-2 in Class 1A, Area 3.

The Tigers travel to face Georgiana on Tuesday to continue in area action.
