Red Level didn’t finish against Georgiana in regulation and that resulted in a 66-59 double overtime loss to the Panthers on Monday night.
GHS led 11-10 after the first period and at halftime. The Tigers trailed 37-35 at the end of the third period.
At the end of regulation, the game was tied 51-51.
Each team put up four points in the first overtime.
“They played hard,” RLS coach Allen Catrett said. “Most of them played 40 minutes. We’ve got to learn how to finish ball games in regulation.
“We’ve lost too many ball games this year in the very end,” he said. “We’re just not finishing.”
Catrett said GHS put a little pressure on his Tigers, which played a good role in the loss.
“We’ve just got to take care of the basketball,” he said.
KJ Lawrence and Justin Maddox had double-doubles in the loss. Lawrence finished with 26 points and 16 rebounds, while Maddox had 17 points and 18 rebounds.
Spencer Stallworth added nine points.
With this loss, RLS falls to 15-12 overall, and 3-5 in Class 1A, Area 3. The Tigers claimed the No. 4 seed going into the area tournament.
RLS travels to face Straughn tonight.
