Three of Red Level’s varsity football players are out indefinitely following their involvement in a one-vehicle wreck Wednesday night.
RLS seniors Tray Atkins and William Crawford, along with junior O’Brian Carthen, all sustained non-life-threating injuries in the wreck, Tigers head football coach David Godwin said Thursday night.
Carthen has a broken ankle; Crawford is on crutches and is waiting for swelling to go down; and Atkins has internal bruising on his ribs and back.
All three players will not play in their homecoming game tonight against Florala, Godwin said.
“I’m glad they’re OK,” Godwin said. “It could’ve been worse. We’re thankful. We’ll try to pull together as a team and make up for the losses.”
Godwin said Atkins will more than likely be back on the field sooner than Crawford and Carthen.
“O’Brian is probably done for the year,” he said. “William could be back in two to three weeks. Tray is day to day.”
