The Pleasant Home Eagles junior varsity girls and boys basketball teams swept the Red Level Tigers in Red Level Tuesday night.

The Lady Eagles notched their first win of the season on Tuesday night by beating the Lady Tigers 14-11.

It was a defensive game in the first half with both teams limiting shot opportunities for the other team. It wasn’t until the second half that either team was able to find any open looks.

“We played pretty well tonight, and I’m proud of our girls,” said Lady Eagles’ head coach Jessica Gibson. “We are getting better each game, and tonight we started clicking in the second half.”

The Lady Eagles’ Abi McDuffie led all scorers  with 9 points, and Bella Worley had 3 points for the Lady Eagles.

The Lady Tigers were led by Alexis Purdue and Jesse Hunter, who both had 4 points.

“It didn’t go the way we wanted it to tonight, but I told both teams we aren’t worried about wins and losses right now, we are just focused on getting better from the first day to the last,” said Tigers’ head coach Allen Catrett.

The junior varsity boys game went back and forth in the first half, but the Eagles pulled out front in the third period, and hung on for a 39-29 victory over the Tigers.

The win gives the Eagles their third win of the season, two more than they had all of last season.

“In the first half we didn’t play our best, but we picked it up in the second half by getting out on there shooters,” said Eagles’ head coach Troy Turman.

The Eagles were led by Marvin Fantroy, who put up 17 points. James Hawkins added 8 points for the Eagles.

The Tigers leading scorer was Kade Green with 19 points. Green knocked home five three-pointers in the game. Jacob Catrett had 4 points for the Tigers.
