The Florala Wildcats’ varsity basketball teams spilt with the Zion Chapel Rebels last night in Florala.

In girls varsity action the Wildcats pulled off a 42-13 victory over the Rebels. Shay Brooks led the Wildcats with 17 points and Morgan Jackson tacked on 10 points.

“The girls did a great job defensively, limited turnovers, and executed their offensive plays well tonight,” said Wildcats’ head coach Troy Stewart.

On the boys’ side the Wildcats couldn’t quite get enough for a win, falling 69-47 to the Rebels. Khalen Ball led the Wildcats with 26 points. Avery McNeill added 15 for the Wildcats.

“We had several guys out tonight, but I was extremely proud of the young guys who stepped up to play tonight,” Stewart said. “Despite the score our guys never gave up, and kept pushing. That’s exactly what I’m looking for, fighting and playing hard no matter what the score is.”
