The Pleasant Home Lady Eagles couldn’t overcome the hot shooting Houston Academy Lady Rebels, falling 54-27 Tuesday in Straughn.

Houston Academy used the three ball early and often from Caitlyn Carter, taking a 17-7 lead after the first period.

Turnovers and not many second chance shots put the Lady Eagles in a 29-13 at half time.

Playing with an injury-depleted roster, the Lady Eagles weren’t able to make substitutions like they normally would, and more turnovers led to a 42-19 score at the end of the third period.

In the fourth period, the Lady Eagles turned to some of their younger players, and even though they played well, it wasn’t enough to mount a comeback.

“It was ugly. There is not a lot to say, but we got our butts beat,” Lady Eagles head coach Jerry Davis said. “We are dealing with injuries and sicknesses right now, but everyone deals with stuff. We still don’t have everything in place yet, so were are learning on the fly here. We are going to improve. Everything we do is correctable, so we will get it together.”

River Baldwin led the Lady Eagles with 15 points, and Jade Self added 6 points.

Houston Academy was led by Carter with 33 points. Caitlyn Boley had 8 points for the Lady Rebels.
