The Fleeta Falcons thwarted a late comeback attempt by the Florala Wildcats, when Andeon White hit a buzzer beater for a 26-23 victory.

The Falcons started off playing hard-nosed defense, and shot well enough to take a 10-4 lead at half time.

In the third period, the Falcons continued the solid start by stretching their lead to 19-9.

The Wildcats’ Leroy Mitchell got the hot hand in the fourth period, scoring 10 points, to dig into the Falcons lead. Tank Sanders only scored two points, but they came on a strong layup with just over a minute left in the game to tie the game at 23-23. With just a few seconds left on the clock the Falcons inbounded the ball, and got it into hands of White. White took the pass, and then fired up a three-pointer that hit nothing but net to give the Falcons a 26-23 win.

Mitchell led the Wildcats in scoring, with 12 points. Nealand Stone added 7 points for the Wildcats.

Leading scorer for the Falcons was Glenn Logiotatos with 10 points, and Tommy Gingpho accounted for 6 points.

“I was proud of the guys for not giving up,” Wildcats’ head coach Troy Stewart said. “They showed effort, and fought their way back into the game. You can’t ask anything more from them than that.”
