A Covington County jury this morning found Jackie Long not guilty of attempted murder, but guilty of the lesser included offense of first-degree assault, as well as guilty to the charges of burglary first-degree and robbery first-degree.

The charges stemmed from an alleged home invasion that occurred shortly after daylight on Dec. 31, 2005, in Wing. Long was charged after a cold case investigation.

Long’s victim, Henry Jordan, was severely beaten, and has since died. Jordan’s wife and two sons testified for the state.
