The Straughn Lady Tigers picked up wins over Escambia County and Pleasant Home on Friday night in the opening round of Andalusia’s Bulldog Bash softball tournament.

 

STRAUGHN 6, 

PLEASANT HOME 3

Straughn struck first, but the Lady Eagles tied it 2-2 in the bottom of the first.

A one-out triple from Armstrong pushed across two runs to put  the Lady Tigers on top 4-2.

Anna Bulger scored for the Lady Eagles in the bottom of the fourth off an fielder’s choice off the bat of Abbey Walker.

In the top of the fifth, the Lady Tigers added another run off the bat of Kristen Peavey. Hope Gunter made a tremendous diving effort, but the ball just kicked off her glove and landed safely on the grass.

 

STRAUGHN 15, 

ESCAMBIA 0

The Straughn Tigers plated 12 runs in the opening inning to blow past Escambia County 15-0.

Hayden Willis and Brentley Armstrong each had three RBIs in the opening inning and Macy Matthew drove in two runs.

Willis was the winning pitcher for the Lady Tigers.

 

PLEASANT HOME 10, 

ESCAMBIA 0

Pleasant Home got two runs in the second inning from Bella Worley and Sami Stammnes to go on top 2-0.

The Lady Eagles added eight more runs in the bottom of the third to take a 10-0 lead.

Abby Walker picked up the win on the mound for the Lady Eagles.

Tournament action will pick back up today at 10 a.m., with Escambia County taking on Flomaton and Straughn against Red Level.

Andalusia will take on Pleasant Home at 11:30 a.m.

The winner between Andalusia and Pleasant Home will play the winner between Straughn and Red Level at 1 p.m.

The winner of the 1 p.m. game will take on the winner between Flomaton and Escambia at 2:30 p.m. for the tournament championship.
