Lady Eagles top Flomaton, fall to Brantley

The Pleasant Home Lady Eagles topped Flomaton, but fell to Brantley Friday night at Johnson Park.

 

PLEASANT HOME 5, FLOMATON 0

Pleasant Home jumped out front early and held off the Lady Hurricanes for 5-0 win.

Abby Walker singled to start the game and then Anna Bulger reached with a one-out single.

Taylor McGhee came up with two outs and drove in the Walker and Bulger to put the Lady Eagles on top 2-0.

Bella Worley and Hope Gunter got things going in the bottom of the second inning by both reaching on singles.

Worley and Gunter moved up to second and third when Tami Hilson advanced the with a sacrifice fly in foul territory.

Walker followed with a single to right field that allowed Worley to score easily from third for a 3-0 lead.

Sissy Martin the stroked a ball that was mishandled by the right fielder, allowing Gunter to score and Martin to reach first.

Martin then stole second, but pickoff and line drive put and end to the inning.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Gunter singled to start the inning and moved up to second on a ground out from Hilson.

Walker continued to help herself out at the plate, as she laced a double to center that allowed Gunter to score from second.

Walker remained steady in the pitching circle and held the Lady Hurricanes off the scoreboard for a 5-0 win.

 

BRANTLEY 7, 

PLEASANT HOME 1

In the final game of the night, Pleasant Home found themselves on the short end of a 7-1 final to the Brantley Lady Bulldogs.

Brantley came strong out of the gate and put up three runs in the bottom of the first inning.

The Lady Bulldogs added to their lead in the bottom of the second inning when a pair of two-out hits pushed across the fourth run of the game for Brantley.

The Lady Eagles had a tough time with the Brantley pitcher, who picked up eight strikeouts after facing nine total batters through the first three innings.

Anna Bulger picked up the first hit of the game for the Lady Eagles in the top of the fourth and Cassidy Godwin followed with a double to drive in Bulger for Pleasant Home’s lone run of the second game.

Brantley added one run in the bottom of the fourth to win 7-1.
