Lady Eagles take area crown

The Pleasant Home Lady Eagles finished with a perfect record in the AHSAA Class 1A, Area 3 softball tournament Tuesday in Pleasant Home, and now move on to the South Regional in Gulf Shores.

PLEASANT HOME 15, RED LEVEL 0

The Pleasant Home Lady Eagles picked up a big 15-0 win over the Red Level Tigers in the semi-finals of the area tournament.

Tiffany Knoll worked around three base runners in the opening inning for the Lady Eagles to keep Red Level off the board.

In the bottom of the first, Anna Bulger got things started with a double and then came around to score a few pitches later.

Knoll retired the Lady Tigers in order in the top of the second inning.

Hope Gunter doubled with one out in the bottom of the second and then scored on passed ball.

Anna Bulger picked up a single and also scored on passed ball to put the Lady Eagles on top 3-0.

Tammi Hilson then came around to score when Sissy Martin drew a bases loaded walk.

Amy Bulger and Cassidy Godwin each scored on passed to give the Lady Eagles a 6-0 lead.

The Lady Eagles tacked more runs in the bottom of the third inning to end the ball game in three innings.

Gunter got things started with a one-out single and then Anna Bulger was hit by a pitch.

Pleasant Home loaded up the bases when Hilson singled in the infield.

Abby Walker was then hit by a pitch to put the Lady Eagles on top 7-0.

Godwin followed with a line drive double to center that scored Anna Bulger, Hilson and Walker.

Amy Bulger then drove in Godwin with a double of her own to put Pleasant Home up 11-0.

Amy Bulger later came around to score on a passed ball.

Martin and Taylor McGhee aslo scored on passed balls to give Pleasant Home a 14-0 lead.

The final run of the contest came when Gunter drove in Sammi Stamnes with a single.

With the win, the Pleasant Home Lady Eagles put themselves in the championship game and punched their ticket to the South Regional in Gulf Shores.

Madison Dunsford led the way at the plate for the Lady Tigers going 2-for-2.

Godwin finished the night 1-for-2 with three RBIs and two runs scored.

Gunter finished 3-for-3 with one RBI and two runs scored.

Anna Bulger was a 2-for-2 with three runs scored.

Walker, Martin and Amy Bulger each drove in one run in the win.

 

PLEASANT HOME 10, RED LEVEL 0

The Pleasant Home Lady Eagles rolled past the Red Level Lady Tigers in the championship game with a 10-0 victory.

Both teams will now advance to the Class 1A South Regional tournament in Gulf Shores on May 12.
