The Red Level Tigers varsity boys’ and varsity girls’ basketball teams put forth a strong effort on Wednesday night in the final round of the Georgiana Christmas Tournament, but both squads fell to Sweetwater in the consolation bracket championship.

“We just had too many turnovers,” Red Level head coach Allen Catrett said. “At times, we are playing well, but we have to be able to put together a complete game.”

This season, both Red Level teams are filled with underclassmen.

“We have a lot of guys that should be playing on B-team this year,” Catrett said. “That’s not an excuse and it’s something we knew coming into the season.”

Catrett said that the young Tigers on both squads have showed potential.

“There are times that we play over our heads,” Catrett said. “There are mistakes, but the good thing is they are all fixable. We’ve played in the Andalusia and Georgiana tournaments and we have our own tournament next week. We play these types of tournament to help us put experience under our belts, and to get ready for area play in February.”
