After topping Houston County in overtime in their previous meeting, the Eagles soared out front and held on for a 65-45 victory on Tuesday night.

“I thought we played extremely well tonight,” Eagles’ head coach Troy Turman said. “We came out in the first period and really set the tone for the game. We were playing with intensity and confidence.”

Robert Scott got the Eagles rolling in the opening frame with 12 points, including a pair of 3-pointers.

“In the second period, our defense really stepped up and held them to just 7 points,” Turman said. “That put us up at halftime and then we got on an 8-0 to start the third period and that really just killed their will to compete with us.”

The Eagles continued to control the pace of the game in the second half and held on for the victory.

“It was a team effort tonight,” Turman said. “We didn’t play perfect, but it was a really good win in a playoff-type environment.”

With the victory the Eagles move to 5-0 in area play and 13-7 overall.

Scott led the way for the Eagles with 28 points in the win.
